GOUVERNEUR -- E. J. Noble Hospital recently staffed a health promotion booth at the annual Flag Day parade, hosted by the Gouverneur Chamber of Commerce.

The booth provided community members with information on staying healthy, preventive health screenings such as blood pressure checks, and fresh apples. The booth also included brochures listing health services available at E. J. Noble Hospital.

"Preventive health care measures are some of the most important things we can do to help people stay healthy. Screening efforts like this are really wonderful! Identifying problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels, gall bladder problems, and other silent problems can prevent huge problems down the roads” said Donald J. Schuessler, a specialist in pediatric medicine and the hospital's medical director.

"Now that our laboratory is back to functioning more full force, we're able to complete more and more testing right here on site and therefore address problems right away. This relates to all kinds of situations, from patients coming from their own physician's office or for routine screenings, to patient care in the emergency room," he said.
