Physician’s assistant Katie Matthis of the Community Health Center and Nolan Gardner, Team Blevins, show some of the gifts collected for this holiday.

GOUVERNEUR -- For the fourth year, Nolan Gardner, salesman at Team Blevins in Gouverneur, has been organizing toy drives and deliveries for less fortunate, chronically ill or hospitalized children during the holiday season.

He is again working with local businesses collecting fund donations and then shopping, wrapping and delivering toys.

Any money left over from the holiday season is used to purchase gifts for hospitalized children throughout the year. Four years later it is still a success.

Nolan has relied on the direction of Dr. Donald Schuessler, Community Health Center of the North Country and formerly of E.J. Noble Hospital, for guidance as to who would best benefit from the donations.

Major supporters of this community effort are Team Blevins, Gouverneur; Newvine’s NAPA, Gouverneur; Richville Furniture, Richville; RSI Roofing, Gouverneur; and Northern Collision, Gouverneur. Other supporters are Oswegatchie Auto Sales and Padgett’s IGA both of Star Lake; Nick Gardner; Weekes Insurance Agency; Emily’s Flower Shop; New York Pizzeria; Dashnaw’s Pizzeria; Gouverneur Bowl; Scott T.
