GOUVERNEUR -- The Gouverneur Business Women Breast Cancer Walk Fund was chosen as one of the “Makers” for the Women Who Make America award recently.
The organization was one of 17 recipients to receive the award in Seneca Falls Friday, March 1. It was the only organization to be honored.
The award was given by WCNY TV in collaboration with AOL and the PBS national documentary “Makers: Women Who Make America.”
The Gouverneur Business Women Breast Cancer Walk Fund was established in 2001 to assist women in St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis Counties who are undergoing breast cancer treatment or are recovering from treatment.
To date the fund has raised over $610,000, assisted over 365 women financially and provided over 1,100 recovery/gift bags to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients. For more information on the breast cancer walk visit www.gouverneurbreastcancerwalk.com.
