Elise Stefanik, Republican candidate for New York's 21st Congressional District, challenged Rep. Bill Owens’ (D - Plattsburgh) vote last week for a bill that would allow Americans to keep their health insurance plans.
"Bill Owens' vote ... is a reminder to us all that he is trying to escape his past. It's what politicians do when they want you to forget about a problem they helped create."
Owens was an early supporter of the Affordable Care Act. His first House vote after his election was in favor of the plan.
“With Obamacare proving to be a disaster - from the botched website to millions of Americans losing their healthcare coverage - including my family's small business - it is no surprise that he is now trying to hide from his past,” Stefanik said.
“But it is too little, too late as this law has already impacted millions across America and many across NY's North Country."
Stefanik is an Essex County Republican who has served in party posts in Washington, and works at her family’s plywood business in Willsboro.
