Republican St. Lawrence County District Attorney candidate Mary Rain says she wants to debate incumbent DA Nicole Duvé to at least twice during the campaign, which will culminate on Election Day Nov. 5.
“A real leader should tell the voters why she deserves re-election despite her repeated failures, admitted mistakes, and countless victims left without justice” said Rain, challenging the DA. She said the people of the county “deserve a full explanation as to why these mistakes happened and why my opponent blames others for her own failings.”
Rain’s platform includes a renewed focus on timely prosecutions, technology upgrades, and improved communication with law enforcement partners.
“This election comes down to a very clear choice. If any of you, your spouse, your child, your parent or your loved one is a victim of crime tonight who would you want prosecuting your case?” Rain said.
Rain has been a police officer, prosecutor, and defense attorney.
Rain said she will work with the media, civic and community organizations to debate her opponent.
