CANTON –The Golden Bear Education Foundation has agreed to pay for 18 field trips, programs and equipment purchases totaling $30,000 for the 2012-2013 school year at Canton Central School.
Included will be events such as visits and clinics by well-known authors; leadership training for middle school students at Camp Oswegatchie; the purchase of a number of e-readers and e-books for their learning resource centers as well as several iPads and Smart Boards to support instruction; environmental science students’ participation in the Environthon at Paul Smiths College; and a variety of field trips to museums and cultural events in such places as Upper Canada Village, Ottawa, and Montreal.
The foundation was established in 2008 to accept and administer gifts for charitable purposes, providing enrichment and enhancement of education programs and opportunities for students, by securing and distributing financial and other resources for the district and its students.
Donations can be targeted directly to areas such as academics, arts and music, athletics and extracurricular activities, or unrestricted funds. Tax deductible donations can be made on line at www.gbfound.org or by mail to CGBEF, PO Box 174, Canton, NY 13617.
