GardenShare planning 5K, budget sessions, more events for Hunger Action Month in September

CANTON -- GardenShare is partnering with national and local organizations to ask community members to take action in the fight against hunger during national Hunger Action Month in September. Several events are planned throughout the month.

Thursday, Sept. 8 is National Hunger Action Day and supporters are encouraged to wear orange to draw attention to hunger awareness.

GardenShare will hold the second annual Fight Hunger 5K Fun Run/Walkathon at the Remington Recreation Trail in Canton on Sunday, Sept. 11 with registration opening at 12:30 p.m.

Walkers will leave for the 5K trail at 1:00 p.m. and runners will follow at 1:30 p.m. The top fundraising individual and top fundraising team will receive prizes.

GardenShare will present two sessions of “Hunger 101,” an interactive simulation of feeding a family on a limited budget.

The the first session will be on Sunday, Sept. 25 at noon at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 ½ E. Main St., Canton and the second session will be on Friday, Sept. 30 at 2:30 p.m. at Clarkson University.
