POTSDAM -- With farmers markets in Canton and Potsdam opening in mid-May, GardenShare is organizing volunteers to do some spring-cleaning in the parks.

In Potsdam, GardenShare is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce annual spring clean-up on April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers should meet at the Potsdam Volunteer Rescue Squad (back of parking lot next to Potsdam Fire Dept- Main Street) at 10.

The chamber will have brooms, rakes, shovels, and plastic gloves for volunteers to use or volunteers can bring their own tools/gloves if preferred.

To be part of the GardenShare group assigned to Ives Park, please pre-register by contacting brianna@gardenshare.org.

In Canton, GardenShare is looking for volunteers to help on “I Love My Park Day,” Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the village park. Volunteers should meet at the park at 10 and should bring their own gloves and rakes.

The Canton Farmers Market will open Friday, May 12, and will be open every Tuesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. through October.

The Potsdam Farmers Market will open Saturday, May 13, and will be open every Saturday from 9-2 through October.

Farmers markets in Gouverneur, Hammond, and Massena open a bit later in the season.

GardenShare is also seeking volunteers to support and assist at the farmers markets. Visit gardenshare.org or contact Rhonda Rodriguez at 315-261-8054 or rhonda@gardenshare.org for more information.
