Furnace, Voss lead Norwood-Norfolk Class of 2015

NORWOOD -- Alisabeth Furnace is the valedictorian and Cheyne Voss is salutatorian of the Norwood-Norfolk Central School District Class of 2015.

Furnace will be graduating with an advanced Regents diploma with honors and an average of 96.68. She has taken honors courses throughout high school including A.P. American history, college English composition 101 and college public speaking.

She is involved in many activities including Key Club, National Honor Society, Varsity Club, band, jazz band, choir and the school musicals. She has also played soccer through her junior year, basketball through senior year and softball through her senior year.

She has participated in activities outside of school including youth group, tutoring, alter server, cantor, lector, and Eucharistic server. She works part time babysitting and dog sitting.

She has been recognized with many awards including the St. Lawrence University Augsbury Scholarship and the Wendy Heisman Scholarship. She plans to attend either LeMoyne or Albany College of Pharmacy for the Physician Assistant Program.

She is the daughter of Lynn and Lisa Furnace of Norfolk.

Cheyne Voss is the salutatorian of the Norwood Norfolk Central School District class of 2015 with an average of 94.22.

Vossis will be graduating with an advanced Regents diploma with honors. She has taken honors courses throughout high school including A.P. American history, college English composition 101, A.P. calculus and upper level sciences.

She is involved in many activities including Key Club, Science Club, Drama Club, National Honor Society, and Whiz Quiz. She has also been in the musical all four years, playing the lead of Mary Poppins this year. She is involved in outside activities including piano. She works part time as a tutor for algebra.

She has been recognized with many awards including the Clarkson Leadership Award, third chair of the Area All State, first chair flute All County. She plans to attend Clarkson University for environmental engineering. She is the daughter of Robert and Meaghan Voss of Norwood.

Other students recognized for having an overall average of 90 or higher are Dion Aumell, Kirstin Barkley, Brandin Cousineau, Robert Fenton, Connor Fulk, Edona Hadzovic, Nevin Hardy, Michelle Harris, Ayanna Mason, McKenzie McCormick and Morgan Simons.
