Ashley Belile and Nancy Bassney's Massena Head Start class recently went outside to visit Frosty.

Frosty the Snowman is spreading winter cheer as he tours four Head Start center throughout St. Lawrence County for the holiday season.

The 12-foot inflatable snowman was donated to the St. Lawrence County Community Development Program by a local father, who prefers to remain anonymous. The father loves the holiday and winter season and wished to spread the joy with other local families, especially children, according to Head Start director Barbara Adams.

Frosty began his tour at the Massena Head Start, 41 West Orvis St. Nov. 22. He will spend four days, not counting weekends, at the center before traveling to Norwood, Potsdam, and finally Canton on Dec. 20.

Head Start is a program that serves children ages three to five years old in primarily economically disadvantaged households to prepare them for school. “I think that it is good. It will point out to the public that something is going on there, let’s look and see what it is about, Adams said.
