A much cooler air mass combined with light winds and clearing skies produced areas of frost across St. Lawrence County on Tuesday as low temperatures were in the 30 to 33 degree range, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

A freeze warning was in effect for neighboring Franklin County, but not for St. Lawrence County.

During a freeze warning, uncovered vegetation will have the potential to be damaged or killed due to freezing temperatures. Those with agricultural interests in the area are advised to harvest or protect tender vegetation. Also, potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered or brought indoors.

There will be patchy fog before 8 a.m., otherwise mostly sunny skies with a high near 56, the service says. Winds will increase in the afternoon to 12 to 17 miles per hour.

An overnight low of 44 degrees is expected with overnight wind gusts of 24 mph, NWS says.

Wednesday will be sunny and seasonal with a high near 66 likely. The overnight low will be a moderate 52 degrees.
