CANTON -- A small group of New York City children arrive in Canton Aug. 10 to spend summer vacations with volunteer host families in Potsdam, Norwood, Parishville, Macomb, and Canton.
They are part of the St. Lawrence County program run by the Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency that has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877. Each summer, over 4,000 children visit volunteer host families in rural, suburban and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.
The children will be arriving at the park in downtown Canton at about 4:30 p.m.
