Meteorologists with the National Weather Service predict that clear skies with temperatures near freezing could give way to rain with thermometers reading as high as 50 degrees by mid-week.

Clear skies are forecast today and tomorrow. Temperatures today are anticipated at a high of 27 in Gouverneur and a low of 25 in Massena. Tonight, that could dip to 15 degrees in Potsdam and Massena.

Monday's clear skies are predicted to bring the temperature up to 33 degrees in Gouverneur and as low as 29 in Massena. Ogdensburg could see temperatures as low as 25 degrees Monday night.

Temperatures are expected to climb to 41 in Canton and Potsdam on Tuesday with a 30 to 40 percent chance of rain, with the odds rising slightly at night. Christmas Eve is forecast to get as warm as 50 degrees in Canton and 80 percent chance of rain throughout St. Lawrence County.

Christmas day bring a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain with temperatures dropping by about 10 degrees from the day before.
