OGDENSBURG – Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center is hosting its 4th annual Family Wellness Day March 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lockwood Arena in Ogdensburg.
The event is free and all are welcome to attend.
Claxton-Hepburn is providing physical activity for everyone with inflatables from Seaway Valley Jumpers. Six different inflatable stations, including a giant obstacle course and a sports arena, will be available as well as carnival games, face painting, balloon twisting and healthy snacks.
Free health screenings including, blood pressure and body mass index, will be available for adults.
According to the CDC, being physically active is one of the key steps to being healthy.
Youth who are physically active get physical and mental health benefits.
Additionally, physical activity builds strong bones and muscles, decreases the likelihood of developing obesity, and risk factors for diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease, and may reduce anxiety and depression.
“The idea behind this event is for families to find a health-related event in their area, gather up their family, go out, and have fun being active,” said Michele Catlin, community outreach coordinator at Claxton-Hepburn.
