CANTON – A fourth person has been charged with gang assault after allegedly attacking a delivery driver and stealing money, pizza and wings from the victim.
Gerome G. Phillips, 18, of 2653 Decatur Ave. Apt. 5B of the Bronx, was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree gang violence.
He was arraigned before Canton Town Justice James Monroe and remanded to county jail in lieu of $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
His arrest comes days after Canton Village Police charged Edward S. Garcia, 20, of Bronx, Derek L. Castillo, 20, of Manhattan and Arcenio Vazquez, 19, of Bronx with second-degree robbery and gang assault, both class C felonies.
Canton Village Police Chief Lori McDougal offered appreciation to the SUNY Canton for its aid in locating Phillips.
“I would like to thank SUNY Canton and University Police for their assistance and cooperation in this case, which resulted in bringing the suspects into custody in a swift and efficient manner,” she said.
Canton police say they responded to a reported assault at Mountain Mart at 12:26 a.m. Thursday.
Officers say a pizza delivery person for Domino's delivered to Prospect Street and Ike Noble Drive in the village when he was assaulted by four males.
The victim was punched, kicked and knocked to the ground. The attackers allegedly stole $15 in cash, a pizza and chicken wings.
The victim was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital by Canton Rescue where he was treated for facial lacerations, a fractured orbital bone, and a severe concussion.
The three were arraigned before Canton Town Justice Cathleen O’Horo and remanded to jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
