Ogdensburg Police Chief Andrew Kennedy has announced four new patrol officers have joined the department.
Patrolman Andrew C. LaFlair of Ogdensburg, 26, is a 2009 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. He is combat veteran of the United States Army, having served from 2011 to 2015, which included deployment to Afghanistan. He attended SUNY Canton where he majored in criminal justice. Prior to being hired with the police department, LaFlair was working for Transportation Security Agency at Ogdensburg Airport.
Patrolman Daniel B. Hollister of Hammond, 28, is a 2006 graduate of Hammond Central School. He attended Clinton Community College and SUNY Canton where he majored in business management. Prior to joining the police department, he was employed at the Bella-Brooke Vineyard in Hammond.
Patrolman Matthew S. McDougall of Gouverneur, 32, is a 2002 graduate of Gouverneur Central School. He attended SUNY Canton where he took courses in independent studies. He worked for Dunn Paper prior to being hired as a patrolman.
Patrolman Charles M. Shaver of Ogdensburg, 26, is a 2009 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. He has an associate’s degree in homeland security and disaster preparedness from Onondaga Community College. He is enrolled at SUNY Canton working on a bachelor’s degree in homeland security. Shaver is a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 2011 to 2015, which included a deployment in Afghanistan.
They were all sworn in on Dec. 30. Their starting salaries are $37,833 each.
