Four Brier Hill residents jailed; accused of luring man into home, beating him with baseball bat

State police say four people are jailed on multiple charges after allegedly luring someone into a residence on state Route 37 in Brier Hill and assaulting the person with a baseball bat and repeatedly kicked.

Matthew McLean, 29, and Bobbi Jo McLean, 36, are each charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony, and one count each of second-degree assualt and first-degree unlawful imprisonment, both felonies, along with three misdemanor counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of child endangerment.

Rozene M. Grzelecki, 20, is charged with third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing and child endangerment.

Jeuris M. Sandoval, 22, is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of child endangerment.

Early Friday morning, troopers say they executed a search warrant at a residence on State Route 37 in Brier Hill where the attack allegedly took place.

A 32-year-old male of Oswegatchie walked in to the residence on Wednesday around 6 p.m. After entering the residence, he was struck in the body with a baseball bat and repeatedly kicked and punched by the four subjects who reside thereHe was also threatened with what appeared to be handguns, which were later found to be air pistols, troopers said.

After the attack, the suspects put the victim him in a vehicle and drove him to a location along county Route 2 where the he was told to get out of the vehicle. He then walked to a nearby residence and called for help. He was taken to Claxton-Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg for treatment of his injuries, troopers said.

During the execution of the search warrant at the suspect’s residence, police located and seized drugs, paraphernalia, money and illegal weapons, troopers said.

Troopers also found that a seven-year-old female child was living in the residence at the time. She was removed from the residence and placed in the care of Child Protective Services, troopers said.

The four subjects were arrested and charged with their respective charges. Each suspect was arraigned at the Town of Morristown Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond each, troopers said.

This investigation included the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT), SP Canton Bureau of Criminal Investigations, SP Massena Bureau of Criminal Investigations, the New York State Police Troop B Narcotics Enforcement Unit, and the New York State Police Gun Unit as well as Uniform members. State Police were also assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
