WADDINGTON -- A Schroon Lake woman has been charged with felony larceny for alleged unauthorized purchases and withdrawals amounting to $3,750.32 using a debit card belonging to a Waddington man.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s detectives on Dec. 9 arrested Joan S. Hong, 41, of 2455 US Route 9, Schroon Lake and charged her with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony.
Hong’s arrest stems from an investigation led by Det. Sean O’Brien into a variety of unauthorized purchases and the use of a debit card belonging to the male victim, a resident of the Town of Waddington.
Over the course of several months starting in October 2015, Hong had taken $3750.32 in U.S. currency, the sheriff’s office charges.
Hong was arrested in the Town of Ellenburg and brought back to St. Lawrence County for booking.
She was arraigned by Canton Town Justice James Monroe after which she was released under the supervision of the probation department.
Hong is to reappear in Waddington Town Court on Jan. 4.
