HAMMOND -- Former St. Lawrence County legislator Allen Dunham died early Monday morning at age 78.
He served on the county board for 12 years.
He was also a member of the St. Lawrence County Soil and Water Conservation District and Hammond Planning Board.
Dunham was a dairy farmer and operated a family farm until 2011. He retired due to declining health.
He was born on July 15, 1936 in Hammond, a son of Frank and Mary (Shutler) Dunham. He graduated from Hammond Central School as valedictorian for the class of 1953.
He was active in the Grange and 4H and attended Hammond Presbyterian Church.
Dunham is survived by his wife, Catherine, a son, a daughter, two grandchildren and two sisters.
