CANTON – A former St. Lawrence County Jail inmate has been charged with attempting to promote prison contraband after he allegdly tried to smuggle in something wrapped in a condom, according to sheriff’s deputies.
Caleb L. Rayburn, 24, Ogdensburg, was charged with first-degree attempted promoting prison contraband, a felony, and second-degree attempted promoting prison contraband. He was arraigned in Canton Town Court and released to the supervision of probation to appear in court at a later date.
Deputies allege the unspecified contraband, which was rolled into condom, was left in an area by an associate of Rayburn’s. They report Rayburn planned to retrieve the condom and place it in his rectum to get it into the correctional facility upon his return.
