Former Ritchie staffer to announce candidacy for 116th Assembly District today in Canton

CANTON -- Mark Walczyk will announce his candidacy for the 116th Assembly District seat that is currently held by Assemblywoman Addie Jenne, D-Theresa. The officials announcement is set for noon on the Courthouse steps at 48 Court St.

“I’m excited to hear from taxpayers and voters over the next 6 months about the issues that matter most to them” Walczyk said. “I have some ideas about where I can make a positive impact and what needs to change in Albany but listening first is always the best approach. Hearing from voters will help me run a successful campaign and listening to residents will continue to help me succeed as your Assembly member if elected” he concluded.

Walczyk, 32, won his seat on Watertown’s Council in 2015 by a near 30 percent margin with 2,567 votes. Until recently, he served as district Director to State Senator Patty Ritchie.

He also serves in the US Army Reserve. He graduated from Central Square High School in 2003 and from the University at Albany in 2007 with a BA in History. Mark is a Christian, an Eagle Scout and 4-time Ironman Triathlete.

Walczyk previously worked for North Country Sen. Patty Ritchie’s campaign.

"I usually have an opponent, and this year is no different," Assemblywoman Jenne said. I look forward to talking to the voters about what I've accomplished, what I'm looking to do in the future and asking for their support."
