MASSENA -- The Board of Education on Thursday took a minute to recognize their former board president.
John Boyce resigned in June, having served on the board for a decade. He left the post due to work obligations.
“When John took over, it was a tough time for the district … turmoil … definitely the worst financial times I’ve been involved with,” current board president Pat Bronchetti said. “I can’t say enough about how John led us through. We had cuts to make. We had to cut staff.”
He then presented Boyce with a plaque.
“It was good. There was a lot of work to do and there’s always going to be a lot of work to do,” Boyce said.
“I know I speak for the board, especially the people he worked with,” Bronchetti said. “Not only our thanks but our respect for the fine job he did as board president.”
