CANTON – Former County Legislator Tedra Cobb will facilitate a meeting Wednesday night of people interested in talking about the proposed state budget and its effect on local schools.
“We will talk about what actions we are currently taking, what actions we want to take to advocate for our fair share of state funds, and how to get those actions accomplished,” Cobb said.
She said she believes that the funding formula would have a particularly hard effect on schools in the Canton, Potsdam and Brasher Falls school districts in St. Lawrence County.
Those schools and others again face big challenges to the numbers of staff and the size and quality of programs, in part due to more cuts in state funding for schools.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Canton High School cafeteria.
