CLIFTON -- A man requesting assistance on Bear Mountain in the Cranberry Lake campground was taken to the hospital after being helped down the mountain Saturday, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
DEC Ray Brook Dispatch received a radio transmission at 11:45 a.m. Aug. 13 from an assistant forest ranger requesting assistance for a 56-year-old man from Hastings who was in medical distress in the Cranberry Lake Wild Forest in the Town of Clifton, according to DEC.
The Cranberry Lake fire department and EMS responded to the area. DEC says forest rangers arrived on scene to find EMS already assisting the man.
Fire department personnel and rangers packaged and carried him out to an ambulance at the trailhead, DEC said.
The ambulance transported him to an area hospital for medical treatment.
The incident concluded at 1:15 p.m., according to DEC.
