Forecast: temps to drop throughout day, strong winds expected across St. Lawrence County

Temperatures will fall throughout the day with a chance of rain and snow before 1 p.m. in St. Lawrence County, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Gusty west to southwest winds will develop this morning and then taper off as the afternoon wears on, NWS says. Winds will be 15 to 20 mph with gusts in the mid 30s possible.

Tonight will be extremely cold, around 5 degrees, and wind chill values as low as -4, the service says. Overnight winds will be 8 to 11 mph.

Frigid temps will remain in the North Country Thursday with a high near 15 and wind chill values as low as -7. The low overnight will be 4 degrees with -10 wind chill values.

The forecast through early next week is as follows:

A 20 percent chance of snow after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 15. Wind chill values as low as -7. North wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 4. Wind chill values as low as -10. Light southwest wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph after midnight.

Friday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 16. West wind 7 to 14 mph.
