Another hot and dry day across the North Country today will see highs in the mid 80s to lower 90s, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The hot weather could be record breaking, as the June 12 high temperature for St. Lawrence County of 89 degrees took place in 2005, according to Weather Underground.
Skies will be mostly sunny today with winds of 8 to 18 miles per hour and gusts as high as 28 mph, NWS says.
A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms are possible tonight between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., then a slight chance of showers after 3 a.m. The overnight low will be around 68.
Highs Tuesday will be around 80 with a possible rain shower around noon, NWS says. The overnight low will be around 50.
A cold front will move southward across the region late tonight into Tuesday morning, bringing a chance for rain showers and thunderstorms, the service says.
A return to cooler and drier weather is expected on Wednesday and will persist into the end of the work week, NWS says.
An active weather pattern returns for the weekend with enhanced potential for showers and
thunderstorms, NWS says.
The forecast through the weekend is as follows:

A slight chance of showers between 11am and noon. Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. North wind 6 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunny, with a high near 71. North wind around 7 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Light and variable wind.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. East wind around 5 mph.

A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. East wind around 7 mph becoming south after midnight.
Friday
A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 70. South wind around 10 mph.
Friday Night
A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 9 mph.
Saturday
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind around 9 mph.
