PARISHVILLE -- A Florida man was seriously injured in a freak accident on White Hill Road yesterday.
State police report that a Saranac man was driving in his Chevrolet pickup truck on White Hill Road when he lost consciousness and struck several parked vehicles on the lawn of a camp, according to troopers.
Among the vehicles he struck was another truck, this one with cinder blocks in the bed. One of them became airborne and struck Ralph E. LaBarr of Bradenton, Fla. as he sat on the porch of a camp along the road.
The victim, Ralph E. Labarr, Bradenton, Fla., was taken first to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and then to Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington. There is no word on his condition.
It was reported by the camp owner that that the Chevy pickup struck several vehicles, including another pickup truck and a four-wheeler, pushing them against the camp building, then hit a Jeep and came to rest back in the road.
The driver of the pickup, William B. Reif of Saranac, was not charged immediately, but is under investigation and charges are pending, according to state police.
