Flooding possible with heavy rain in St. Lawrence County tonight

Posted

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of St. Lawrence County for the possibility of flooding as potentially heavy rain approaches the region.

A slow moving band of showers and isolated thunderstorms across Northern New York early tonight will bring the potential for some locally heavy rainfall.

Total rainfall Thursday night into Friday will be upwards of an inch with as much as two inches in some places. This will cause rises on rivers and streams, which could lead to some minor flooding, the NWS says.

Above normal temperatures will once again be the rule across the North Country today, but still a little cooler than it has been, with highs today in the mid 80s. The heat index, which adds in the effect of humidity, will be near 90. Lows tonight are expected to be in the mid 60s.

High temperatures on Friday will be in the 70s to around 80 with a continued chance of rain, and then in the mid 70s to lower 80s on Saturday under sunny skies – right around normal for this time of year --

Lows will be below 60 Friday and Saturday nights.
