Flood watch issued for St. Lawrence County as temperatures rise swiftly

A flood watch has been issued for St. Lawrence County as temperatures are expected to rise quickly tonight though Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Near record warmth combined with periods of rainfall will lead to rapid snow melt and river ice breakup, which will increase the threat for minor to moderate flooding across the region Tuesday and Wednesday.

Areas where ice jams remain in place from the mid-January that will be the most susceptible to flooding. A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
