Flood warning expires following reports of minor flooding in North Country, rain to return tonight, leave Saturday

A National Weather Service flood warning for the St. Lawrence Valley expired at 4 p.m. There have been reports of minor flooding in the region last night and this morning after days of rain across the Northeast U.S.

Despite the sunnier weather during the day Wednesday, scattered showers and fog are expected to return tonight, the service says.

A high-pressure system is expected to develop over the area late tonight and into Thursday, causing relatively dry weather during the day tomorrow, the service says. However, an upper level disturbance will likely bring more rain showers Thursday afternoon and evening.

Heavier showers are predicted for Friday, with dry weather anticipated to finally return Saturday, the service says.

Temperatures are expected to remain in the low 70s through the weekend, according to the service.
