OGDENSBURG – Allegiant Air is suspending flights out of Ogdensburg from the middle of August until the end of September.
“It's a low travel season because of back-to-school time, so the routes take a short break,” Allegiant Spokeswoman Krysta Levy said.
Allegiant Air began offering flights to Florida in October of 2016 following a massive expansion of the Ogdensburg airport and has been a draw for Canadians who are willing to travel south for the low-cost flights.
The airport expansion included a 1,200-foot extension of the airport’s runway, which required moving a portion of State Route 68. In addition the taxiway was widened and extended, there were runway approach lighting improvements, and obstruction removal.
Additional improvements included a 4,000 square foot terminal extension and the addition of a 423-space parking area.
