POTSDAM -- A Norfolk motorcyclist attempting to flee a Norfolk police officer died early today after he failed to negotiate a curve.
Shawn L. Ladue, 48, was driving a 1994 Harley-Davidson on St. Rt. 56 in Norfolk and fled after allegedly failing to comply with a Norfolk police officer's order, according to the report from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office.
The ride ended at about 1:25 a.m. in the town of Potsdam on Cty. Rt. 35, when Ladue reportedly didn't make a turn in the road and struck guiderails.
Coroner June Wood declared Ladue dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma. An autopsy will be performed later today.
The Sheriff's Department was assisted at the scene by New York State Police, West Potsdam Fire Department, Potsdam Rescue Squad, and Norwood Police Department.
The investigation is continuing, according to deputies.
