POTSDAM -- Five Potsdam High School students have been selected for the New York All-State Music Ensembles.

Noah Chichester (bass), Matthew Cincinnati (tenor), and Ivan Jukic (tenor) have been selected to perform with the all-state mixed chorus. Chichester is a member of the concert choir, Canta Sera Chamber Singers, and the concert band at Potsdam. Cincinnati sings with the concert choir and Canta Sera Chamber Singers and plays violin in the high school orchestra. Jukic plays trumpet in the concert band in addition to singing in the concert choir and Canta Sera. He studies voice privately with Lonel Woods at the Crane School of Music.

Ariana Frascatore (soprano) will perform with the all-state women’s chorus. Frascatore is a member of the concert choir and Canta Sera. She is the student of Deborah Massell at Crane.

Taylor Prosper (clarinet) studies with Crane professor Julianne Kirk-Doyle and was selected as a member of the all-state symphonic band. He has been a member of the band and chorus at PCS since the fourth grade.

The students will participate in concerts at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester during the annual Winter Conference of the New York State School Music Association Dec. 5 to Dec. 8.

“We are very proud of these students and their accomplishments,” said music teacher Tammara Madeja. “Their hard work and dedication to become outstanding musicians is evident. They will be excellent representatives of our music program.”

Of the 10,000 students who perform NYSSMA solos each spring, about five percent are given the honor of performing in all-state ensembles.
