OGDENSBURG -- Five people received Red Cross aid following a Friday fire at Belmont Courts.
A news release from the agency did not name the victims.
The Red Cross provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to two adults and three children, ages 3, 2, and 5 months. Volunteers also offered emotional support and comfort kits containing personal care items and stuffed animals for the children. In the coming days, Red Cross says their staff and volunteers will remain available to help those affected.
Since the start of 2016, the Red Cross has responded to more than 400 home fires and other disasters in their 24-county Eastern New York Region. Red Cross staff and volunteers provided assistance, care and comfort to more than 2,000 local residents this year.
