OGDENSBURG — The American Red Cross provided immediate assistance to 8 people following a fire Monday afternoon on Irvin Street.

Five adults and 3 children were allegedly home at the time of the blaze.

Red Cross volunteers provided financial assistance for necessities such as shelter, food and clothing to the victims, officials said.

The children were ages 1, 14 and 15.

Volunteers also provided health services, comfort kits containing personal care items and stuffed animals for the children.

WYNY-tv is reporting that an elderly man was rescued from the burning home and rushed to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.
