GOUVERNEUR – A 15-year-old was killed in a Gouverneur fire early Friday morning, according to state police.
Troopers say Jasmine L. Pankey was killed in a residential fire at 1119 State Route 11 at around 2:30 a.m.
State police said the blaze was reported by a motorist. The teen’s mother Sandra O’Mara and nephew Tyler Shatlaw escaped the fire without injury. Troopers say both were evaluated at the scene.
Saint Lawrence County Cause and Origin Team are currently on scene.
State police said investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
Agencies that responded to the fire include the Gouverneur Fire Department, Gouverneur Rescue, Richville Fire Department, Oxbow Fire Department, Antwerp Fire Department, and Edwards Rescue.
