MASSENA -- No one was injured in what Alcoa officials described as “a small fire” that broke out in a pot room over the weekend.
Alcoa Massena operations spokesperson Laurie Marr said it erupted around 5:30 a.m. Sunday at the west plant smelter.
She doesn’t know the cause or how much damage the blaze caused.
“The damage is contained to a small area near two pots in the pot room,” she said. “An investigation is continuing.”
Massena Fire Department and Alcoa’s internal fire department each responded, Marr said.
“Production is continuing,” Marr said.
