“Watermelon,” oil on canvas by Paul N. Pedersen, is the featured art for August in the Fine Art Up North 2014 calendar from SLC Arts.

 POTSDAM -- SLC Arts is about to release its first Fine Art Up North calendar, what the arts council plans as an annual publication featuring a juried selection of work from North Country artists.

Each month of the 2014 calendar features a different artist’s work in a high gloss 8.5”x11” reproduction.

This year’s calendar includes work by local artists Sharon H.J. Cheng (Potsdam), Melissa Schulenberg (Potsdam), Michiko Taylor (Potsdam), Jim Bullard (Potsdam), Leon LeBeau (Colton), Anne Siebley (Canton), John Elwood Cook (Wellesley Island), Paul Pedersen (Russell), Steven Pedersen (Potsdam), Ray Whalen (Parishville), Judy Andrus Toporcer (Colton), and Timur Isack Azaev (Hannawa Falls).

The calendars will be available for purchase for $12 each starting Oct. 5 at the Remington Arts Festival on the Canton Village Green.

Those who join or renews their SLC Arts membership at the $50 level or above through the end of the year will receive a calendar as a free gift.
