CANTON -- Firefighters contained a fire said to be caused by a faulty chimney at 854 Miner Street Rd. Sunday evening, according to St. Lawrence County fire officials.
Canton fire and rescue responded to the blaze at 7:44 p.m. and firemen were able to get into the attic and pull the ceiling and extinguish the fire with minor overhaul, officials said.
Thew fire caused damage to the extension of the roof line and into the attic, officials said.
This was a good stop by all firemen on scene, officials said.
The home is reportedly owned and occupied by Myron Dafoe and one other person.
Mutual aid was provided by fire departments from Morley, DeKalb, Rensselaer Falls, Hermon, and Pyrites, officials said.
No injuries were reported and the house was insured.
