POTSDAM -- Fathers of two just-honored Clarkson University athletes grew up playing basketball at Potsdam High, and their sons are now playing baseball for CU.

Daniel Lenney, son of David Lenney and Carolyn Jones, and David Wixted, son of Ed and Melanee Wixted, were named to the Liberty League Academic All Star Team for their achievements while playing for the Clarkson University Men’s Baseball Team this semester.

Their fathers, Dave Lenney and Ed Wixted, grew up together on Circle Drive in Potsdam and graduated from Potsdam High School in 1975 and 1976. Both played basketball for the Sandstoners under legendary coach Hal Gillette.

Dave Lenney is an attorney in Clifton Park and Ed Wixted is an executive for a manufacturer in the Capital District.

The families reunited in Clifton Park when the boys started playing Little League baseball together, and the boys continued their careers at Shenendehowa High School and, now, at Clarkson University.

Dan and David are both sophomores at Clarkson, and both are studying business.
