OGDENSBURG – Family Nurse Practitioner Michelle Camarda is now part of the medical staff at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center and the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center.
Camarda, a native of the North Country, received an associates of applied science in nursing from SUNY Canton. She went on to the University of New York Institute of Technology, Utica, to earn her bachelor of science in nursing and then a masters degree in nursing/ family nurse practitioner from SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, from which she graduated with honors.
Camarda has worked at Claxton-Hepburn since 2000. She has worked as a case manager, nurse manager, and registered nurse in various patient care areas.
When asked why she decided to become a nurse practitioner, Camarda said, “I have always wanted to take care of breast cancer patients.
“When I finished my schooling I wanted to stay in the area and the Winter Cancer Center was a good fit, especially with the new Breast Health Center opening at Claxton-Hepburn.”
Camarda lives in Hammond with her husband Tom.
