POTSDAM -- Family nurse practitioner Kristin M. Miller has joined Canton-Potsdam Hospital’s St. Lawrence Orthopedics and Sports Medicine practice.
Miller began seeing patients May 6.
She received her bachelor of science in nursing from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and her masters in nursing/family nurse practitioner degree from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, where she won the class of 2011 FNP Award.
Miller joins CPH from an internal medicine practice in Springfield, Mass. She has also served as a charge nurse with F. F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, and as a staff nurse with Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
She began her career serving as a nurse on an orthopedic surgical inpatient unit at SUNY Upstate Medical University.
Throughout her career Miller has participated in quality initiatives, development of training and instruction and patient education on preventive care and management of disease.
“Ms. Miller has demonstrated leadership on quality initiatives in her past positions, which fits with our emphasis on quality assessment and monitoring as part of our everyday practice,” said John Savage, orthopedic surgeon at St. Lawrence Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
“Her philosophy of providing individualized care to each patient, and her experience in both an office setting and inpatient hospital settings working collaboratively as part of a care team also will fit well with how we work with other professionals at the primary care level and when patients are hospitalized,” he said.
