POTSDAM -- Fall Island Salon has reopened at 53 Maple St. after closing about four years ago.
Owner Lisa Ploof said she decided to reopen the business after Total Image, where she had been working for the last few years, downsized earlier this year.
The salon is located two doors down from its previous location of 31 Maple St.
They reopened Sept. 29.
Ploof said she has done hair since 1989 and started at Village Cutters.
They will offer haircuts, colors, highlights, foils, perms, ethnic hair stylings, hair extensions, waxing (including Brazilian and bikini) and pedicures.
“The new salon is brighter, shinier and happier,” she said.
Ploof said because of her close proximity to Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam that she offers a discount for college students.
Students with ID can get a free haircut five paid haircuts.
Ploof works with two other hairstylists in the salon.
Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
