OGDENSBURG -- Fall brush pickup will begin Oct. 23 in the second ward and move toward Proctor Avenue, according to an update from the Department of Public Works.
The DPW expects to make two to three full passes though the city during the process. The last day to place debris out for pickup is Nov. 19, with the last pickup day set for Nov. 22.
City council had suspended brush pickup for the first three weeks of October in order to reduce unplanned expenditures. Brush pickup has been a controversial issue for the city this year after the city cut back the service in order to reduce expenses from a tight budget in 2016. However the council reinstated the service after complaints from the public.
The suspension was implemented to reduce unplanned overtime expenses associated with the pickup.
