A wind chill warning is in effect through 7 p.m. Saturday as St. Lawrence County will see extreme cold temps around -2 and wind chill values up to 45 below zero, according to the National Weather Service.

Schools across the North Country canceled classes today as the cold weather was deemed too dangerous for students.

Strong low pressure will slowly pull away from the region through Saturday with gusty winds, bitterly cold wind chills and areas of blowing snow, forecasters say. Light snow will continue across the northern mountains, where a few additional inches will be possible.
