An excessive heat warning is in effect for St. Lawrence County as dangerously hot weather is expected today, according to National Weather Service forecasters.

The service expects a high today around 98 degrees with a heat index of 104. Winds will be 8 to 14 miles per hour.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain before 8 p.m. today, with some storms producing heavy rainfall, NWS says. The overnight low will be around 71.

Tuesday will be sunny and hot with a high near 91 during the day and an overnight low around 67, forecasters say.

Independence Day will see temps rise again to 96 degrees with sunny skies, NWS predicts.
