Exam to fill food service job at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in July

OGDENSBURG -- An open competitive exam for an entry-level food service worker will be given July 11 and 12 at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, 1 Chimney Point Drive.

Full-time starting salary is $26,274.

To be eligible to take the exam, an applicant in good health and good physical condition, must be able to read, write and speak English, and must be able to follow written and spoken instructions. The applicant musty pass the written test to be considered for appointment.

The exam will cover food service and storage procedures; reading gauges, dials and similar instruments; and reading and understanding schedules and other kinds of written material.

This examination will be used to fill positions at New York State Office of Mental Health psychiatric centers.

Application forms may be obtained from the personnel office at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center or at https://www.cs.ny.gov/extdocs/pdf/20-483.pdf .

Applications must be mailed to Albany at the address on the form and must be received in the Ogdensburg office no later than June 19. Admission notices will be mailed 10 days prior to the exam. Applicants must check “AREA 12” on the application form to receive an admission notice for this exam.

An applicant may take this exam only once during a test form period, which runs from May 15 through April 30 of the following year.
