The chances of rain during the day and perhaps snow at night persists this week but diminishes until the sky clears Thursday night, according to National Weather Service forecasters.
A hazardous weather outlook bulletin has been posted for occasional rain and mountain snow showers through tonight, with additional snow accumulation above 1,500 feet elevation from a dusting to 3 inches, with locally higher amounts above 2,000 feet.
Daytime highs should be in the mid to upper 40s and overnight lows in the 30s until Thursday night when it could dip into the 20s.
Friday and saturday should be clear, with the chance of showers returning Sunday and Sunday night.
The National Weather Service forecast for the St. Lawrence Valley and northwestern Adirondacks:
This Afternoon: Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 46. West wind between 11 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Tonight: Rain showers likely before 2am, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 2am and 5am, then a chance of snow showers after 5am. Cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind between 5 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy, with a high near 51. North wind between 6 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers before 1am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 31. North wind between 6 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers before 11am, then a slight chance of rain showers. Sunny, with a high near 47. North wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 29.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 57.
