Enough with the snow: Warmer than average temperatures to continue through weekend in St. Lawrence County

Temperatures that are warmer than average for the time of year will continue in the St. Lawrence Valley and Adirondacks through the weekend and remain there through Monday, according to the forecast from the National Weather Service.

The NWS staff at Burlington say high pressure bringing warmer-than-average temperatures to the region will prevail until a cold front approaches the region on Sunday. Rain chances will increase from west to east late Sunday and Sunday night as the cold front moves east through the area.

Skies will be mostly cloudy through the week, the NWS says, with overnight lows in the mid-30 tonight and Saturday night, and daytime high temperatures in the 50s on Saturday and Sunday, when average temperatures at Massena for late November reach around 40 degrees during the day, and overnight lows average about 20.

The chance of rain stands at 50 percent on Sunday, rising to about 70 percent Sunday night, and possibly heavy at times.

Monday the chance of rain is 30 percent, with highs around 55. After that the chance of rain -- and maybe some snow -- settles in between 30 and 50 percent through the middle of next week, as the forecast now stands, with highs near 40 and lows around 30.
