POTSDAM -- Dr. Brenda J. Healey, an emergency medicine specialist, will practice in the Emergency Department of Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Healey received her medical degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. She completed an internship in comprehensive surgery at the University of Toronto. She then completed two years of pediatric residency at McGill University in Montréal.
Healey has since served as an emergency room physician in numerous hospitals across Canada and the U.S., and as surgical assistant and family practice physician in Canada, the U.S., and New Zealand.
Healey has also participated in the education of the next generation of medical graduates as an instructor, invited lecturer, and workshop or medical rounds leader.
She most recently served as a physician in the urgent care department of the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt.
Healey is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Family Physicians and is certified by the American Board of Surgical Assistants. She is a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Healey’s husband, Dr. Mark Healey, is a general surgeon and trauma surgeon at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and her brother-in-law is Dr. Gregory Healey, family physician in Canton.
